Form MV-010, State of South Dakota Application for a Duplicate Certificate of Title, or also referred to as the South Dakota Duplicate Title Application Form, is a legal form used to apply for a duplicate motor vehicle or boat title. Any individual who resides in South Dakota that has lost his or her title, had it stolen, damaged, or mutilated can obtain a duplicate title through the South Dakota Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
The South Dakota Duplicate Title Application Form must be signed in front of a notary public and must also be submitted with the notary public’s seal affixed. Moreover, an odometer reading is required for motor vehicles 9 years old or newer and for motor vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 16,000 pounds or less.
If a lien is indicated on the title record, a lien release must be submitted along with this form. You may also let your lienholder complete Section B of the South Dakota Duplicate Title Application Form.
If you plan on having the duplicate title mailed to someone other than yourself (the owner), the mailing instructions must be indicated on the form, specifically, on Section A.
If you happen to authorize someone else to sign the South Dakota Duplicate Title Application Form for you through power of attorney, a copy of the power of attorney form is required to be submitted. The original power of attorney form should be retained in the event it is needed for assigning the duplicate title.

Lienholder Information
By signing the South Dakota Duplicate Title Application Form, the lienholder is granting approval for the owner to obtain a duplicate title for his or her motor vehicle or boat. Thie lien will appear on the duplicate title unless a separate lien release accompanies the said application.

By signing the South Dakota Duplicate Title Application Form, you (the applicant) are hereby certifying that the information shown above is true and correct to the best of your knowledge and that you have not transferred the motor vehicle or boat described above to another owner. If it happens to have been transferred, you are applying for a duplicate title on behalf of the new owner. You must certify that the original title of your motor vehicle or boat has been either lost, stolen, destroyed, mutilated, became illegible, or was never received.

Use the Check button to add a check symbol to your document. To customize the check symbol, you will be able to access the Size adjustment tool.
Use the Cross button to add a cross symbol to your document. To customize the cross symbol, you will be able to access the Size adjustment tool.
Use the Whiteout button to white out or erase items in your document.
Use the Redact button to censor items in your document.
Use the Marker button to highlight items in your document. To customize the marker, you will be able to access the Color selection and Size adjustment tools.
Use the Insert button to add Icons, Header, Footer, Watermark, Comment, and Sticky Note to your document.
